California Department of Water Resources - Southern District

Water Education Program

Program Overview

A major responsibility of the Department of Water Resources is to "educate the public about the importance of water and its proper use..." Through the Water Education Program and with assistance from other State and federal agencies, local water districts, and community organizations, the Department has kept to that pledge.

Water Facts and Fun Catalog The Public Affairs Office has assembled a library of literature and multi-media products that can be used by all ages and interest groups to gain a comprehension and awareness of California's water resources and ways to manage and conserve them. The Department's supplemental educational literature and materials on water resources provide a foundation for schools and teachers seeking to develop classroom exercises on the subject. Ideas on interactive children's hands-on activities are also available. Information on these materials is available from the Public Affairs Office School Education Services.
